![]() ![]() Him being some poor guy who knew the Custom Avatar well, but found the Ruby, got corrupted by it, got found by Eggman and became his servant. I had a bunch of theories on what he was before the tie-in comic and Episode Shadow came out Infinite isn't without merit, his concept is great and his story is perfectly fine in theory, all he is is just lost potential that still needs to be ignited. And I'd argue a lot of this can still be implemented into a future title without needing to change a whole lot, since his ending is extremely open-ended and he didn't actually lose much of anything in the process. Infinite can work, and I'd love to see him return at some point if the writers know why he can work as a character. Him betraying Eggman is optional because honestly it's not necessary, but Infinite not being the final boss just doesn't make that much sense when he was the reason the world went to shit in the first place. Or break the Ruby so its abilities are less broken, but have him flee with what's left, if you want to balance it out. Make Infinite the final boss, and either have the Phantom Ruby removed from his chest and leaving him as a broken shell of his former self, or have him flee specifically so the heroes don't have a chance to take the Ruby away from him. That kind of stuff would be great because Eggman never resorts to that kind of abuse and having Infinite do that would emphasize how much more of a threat he is. There's a fan mod that does this wonderfully, taking Shadow to the Black Comet and Space Colony ARK to relive the issues he had with the events of his first few games, and to Dusty Desert to do the same with his conflict with Mephiles (doesn't make a lick of sense in hindsight but still a cool moment), so using the heroes' fears against them rather than just throwing generic non-specific "scary" stuff at them would have been a great touch. Or have Infinite warp the world in ways that are more than just giraffe-necked copies or Green Hill Zone again. That sort of half-trauma could justify Tails being a coward who relies on Sonic for approval or strength way more. Or hell, make a fake Sonic who becomes its own menace to the world, and have him beat the shit out of Tails and have him talk shit to his face about how worthless of a partner he is, which makes Tails lose hope when his best friend and hero turns his back on him and destroys his confidence. ![]() ![]() As we saw with Zavok, the copies do have sentience and are capable of speech, so there could have been more that could have been done with that to mess some heads up fake Shadow especially could have contributed to the story in relation to his interactions with Sonic and/or the Resistance, and them thinking he's turned bad as he wrecks shit on the city. The Phantom Ruby can create illusions and that has the potential for a ton of psychological warfare. ![]() The Phantom Ruby could literally warp his mind and make him more insane and power-hungry overtime not to the extent that the Ruby controls him outright, but more that Infinite is addicted to the Ruby's power. Eggman specifically so he could turn into a freak of nature in exchange for more power (side note, a scene where we see him do this would also be great). Either way, he has a reason to be mad at himself for being too weak to win against Shadow, and to want to make himself stronger so that doesn't happen again be it the fact that his pride was shattered since he was always obsessed with being the best, or the fact that he never wants to get his ass beat again because he doesn't want to lose anything else if he did.Įlaborating on his psyche from there would be ideal, specifically the fact that Infinite was just an average joe who went to Dr. Either make Infinite a high-and-mighty asshole who sees himself as superior to the rest of the Squad, or a legitimately caring leader who's angry at himself for not being able to protect his team. The idea that Infinite was this normal guy who went to extreme measures to better himself after losing a single fight isn't all that bad, it just needs to be less cheesy.Įlaborate on his relationship with the Jackal Squad, and what their defeat means in relation to his own defeat. Honestly, the idea for Infinite is actually really good, he just needs stuff added to him to prevent him from being too one-dimensional. ![]()
